It is a specific marker of pancreatic and gastrointestinal adenocarcinomas. Almost 100% of colon adenocarcinomas, Merkel cell carcinomas, lung adenocarcinomas, ovarian carcinomas and renal carcinomas express this antigen, but breast carcinomas do not express it.
