Resistin, also known as adipocyte-specific secretory factor (ADSF) and found in inflammatory zone 3 (FIZZ3), is a member of a family of secreted cysteine-rich peptide hormones that also includes Resistin-like molecules RELM alpha, beta, and gamma. These molecules play important roles in inflammation, glucose metabolism, and insulin resistance. Mature Mouse Resistin is a 12 kDa protein with an N-terminal alpha-helical domain and a C-terminal beta-sandwich domain that is stabilized by multiple intrachain disulfide bonds. Resistin circulates as noncovalent trimers and disulfide-linked hexamers, with an the trimeric form showing greater bioactivity. Resistin can also form multimers with an RELM beta. Mature Mouse Resistin shares 56% and 72% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with an Human and rat Resistin, respectively. It shares 34%-42% aa sequence identity with an Mouse RELM alpha, beta, and gamma. In rodents, Resistin is expressed by adipocytes and in the pituitary and arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus. It is upregulated during adipogenesis, in obesity, and by insulin or a high carbohydrate diet. This is in contrast to Human Resistin which is produced by macrophages and monocytes but not by adipocytes. Mouse Resistin induces proinflammatory molecule production in adipocytes and promotes hepatic gluconeogenesis and insulin resistance. Human Resistin promotes lipolysis by Human and Mouse adipocytes, but Mouse Resistin does not promote lipolysis by adipocytes of either species. Both Mouse and Human Resistin promote vascular endothelial cell sprouting in vitro and inflammatory reactions in vivo.

Roundabout homolog 4, also known as magic roundabout and ROBO4 is a member of theimmunoglobulin superfamily and ROBO family. ROBO4 is specifically expressed in endothelial cells. It is expressed at sites of angiogenesis in different tumor types. ROBO4 contains twofibronectin type-III domains and twoIg-like C2-type (immunoglobulin-like) domains. ROBO4 is the fourth identified member of the roundabout receptor family. It is the only Robo family member expressed in primary endothelial cells and that application of Slit inhibits their migration. ROBO4 is predominantly expressed in embryonic or tumor vascular endothelium and is considered important for vascular development and as a candidate tumor endothelial marker. ROBO4 is a bona fide member of the Robo family and may provide a repulsive cue to migrating endothelial cells during vascular development. ROBO4 is a receptor for Slit proteins, at least for SLIT2, and seems to be involved in angiogenesis and vascular patterning. ROBO4 may mediate the inhibition of primary endothelial cell migration by Slit proteins. Activating ROBO4 may have broad therapeutic application in diseases characterized by excessive angiogenesis and/or vascular leak.

The "ribulose phosphate binding" superfamily defined by the Structural Classification of Proteins (SCOP) database is considered the result of divergent evolution from a common (beta/alpha)(8)-barrel ancestor. The superfamily includes d-ribulose 5-phosphate 3-epimerase (RPE), orotidine 5'-monophosphate decarboxylase (OMPDC), and 3-keto-l-gulonate 6-phosphate decarboxylase (KGPDC). Replication of the human genome requires the activation of thousands of replicons distributed along each one of the chromosomes. Each replicon contains an initiation, or origin, site, at which DNA synthesis begins. In enzymology, a L-ribulose-5-phosphate 3-epimerase is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction L-ribulose 5-phosphate to L-xylulose 5-phosphate. Hence, RPE has one substrate, L-ribulose 5-phosphate, and one product, L-xylulose 5-phosphate. RPE belongs to the family of isomerases, specifically those racemases and epimerases acting on carbohydrates and derivatives. The systematic name of this enzyme class is L-ribulose-5-phosphate 3-epimerase. Other names in common use include L-xylulose 5-phosphate 3-epimerase, UlaE, and SgaU.

RSPO1 gene is a member of the R-spondin family. It encodes RSPO1 which is known as a secreted activator protein with two cystein-rich, furin-like domains and one thrombospondin type 1 domain. In mice, RSPO1 induces the rapid onset of crypt cell proliferation and increases intestinal epithelial healing, providing a protective effect against chemotherapy-induced adverse effects. This protein is an activator of the beta-catenin signaling cascade, leading to TCF-dependent gene activation. RSPO1 acts both in the canonical Wnt/beta-catenin-dependent pathway and in non-canonical Wnt signaling pathway, probably by acting as an inhibitor of ZNRF3, an important regulator of the Wnt signaling pathway. It also acts as a ligand for frizzled FZD8 and LRP6.

Protein S100-A11(S100A11) is a member of the S-100 family. S100A11 is widely expressed in multi pletissues, and is located in cytoplasm, nucleus, and even cell periphery. S100A11 exists as a non-covalent homodimer with an antiparallel conformation. Ca(2+) binding to S100A11 would trigger conformational changes which would expose the hydrophobic cleft of S100A11 and facilitate its interaction with target proteins. As a dual cell growth mediator, S100A11 acts as either a tumor suppressor or promoter in many different types of tumors and would play respective roles in influencing the proliferatin of the cancer cells. In the nucleus, S100A11 suppresses the growth of keratinocytes through p21 (CIP1/WAF1) activation and induces cell differentiation. S100A11 is also a novel diagnostic marker in breast carcinoma.

S100 proteinis a family of low molecular weight protein found in vertebrates characterized by twoEF-hand calcium-binding motifs. There are at least 21 different S100 proteins, and the name is derived from the fact that the protein is100%soluble in ammonium sulfateat neutralpH. Most S100 proteins are disulfide-linked homodimer, and is normally present in cells derived from theneural crest, chondrocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, etc. S100 proteins have been implicated in a variety of intracellular and extracellular functions. They are involved in regulation of protein phosphorylation, transcription factors, the dynamics of cytoskeleton constituents, enzyme activities, cell growth and differentiation, and the inflammatory response. Protein S100-A13, also known as S100 calcium-binding protein A13, is a member of theS-100 family. It contains twoEF-hand domains. S100A13 binds two calcium ions per subunit and one copper ion. Binding of one copper ion does not interfere with calcium binding. S100A13 is required for the copper-dependent stress-induced export of IL1A and FGF1. The calcium-free protein binds to lipid vesicles containing phosphatidylserine, but not to vesicles containing phosphatidylcholine. S100A13 plays a role in the export of proteins that lack a signal peptide and are secreted by an alternative pathway.

Koebnerisin is also known as protein S100-A7A (S100A7A), S100 calcium-binding protein A7-like 1 (S100A7L1) or S100 calcium-binding protein A15 (S100A15). Human S100A7A / S100A15 is a novel member of the S100 family of EF-hand calcium-binding proteins and was recently identified in psoriasis, where it is significantly upregulated in lesional skin. S100A7 is expressed by both normal cultured and malignant keratinocytes and malignant breast epithelial cells within ductal carcinoma in situ, suggesting an association with abnormal pathways of differentiation. S100A7 plays a role in the pathogenesis of inflammatory skin disease, as a chemotactic factor for hematopoietic cells. It also plays a role in early stages of breast tumor progression in association with the development of the invasive phenotype. The association of the 11.2 kDa S100A7A / S100A15 with psoriasis suggests that it contributes to the pathogenesis of the disease and could provide a molecular target for therapy.&nbsp,
